Sunfox Campground is conveniently located less than 1 mile from new exit 19 (old exit #83A) off I-395 North in Lisbon, Connecticut.  Please note that CT  has instituted new mileage-based exit numbers on I-395

A few directional notes:
1. There is no Exit 19 if Southbound on I-395
2. Sunfox was formerly “Deer Haven”
3. Strnad Rd is actually spelled that way–not “Strand”)
4. There is a low bridge (12′) on RT 138 in Lisbon, so we don’t send you that way…but your GPS might.

Sunfox Campground is located in beautiful southeastern Connecticut, halfway between New York and Boston, and just 30 minutes from Mystic. We strongly suggest following the directions printed below  from many major cities that appear below the interactive Google map, for if you are traveling on I-395 South, some navigation devices may take you through the rural roads of Lisbon, as there is NOT an Exit 19 (old exit 83A) in the southbound direction.  While the direct highway route shown below when traveling on I-395 South may be 1 mile longer, it is faster and avoids a low overpass of 12′ that is located on Route 138 between Route 12 and Route 169

For those traveling on I-395 North: 

Take new Exit 19 (old exit 83A). Left onto Route 169 North. Proceed 1/2 mile, and turn left onto Kendall Road Extension (also known as Strnad Road, so continue straight as it quickly becomes Strnad Rd), which then turns into Kenyon Road as you bear to the right after 1/4 mile. Take a left and head down the hill to the entrance to Sunfox Campground.

From I-395 South:
Please note that there is NO EXIT 19 (old exit 83A) in the southerly direction off of I-395, and while your GPS may suggest an alternate route, some of the narrow back roads through Lisbon have low overpasses of 12′, including RT 138 near the new firehouse.  We strongly suggest following these directions, for although it requires continuing just past the campground and reversing your direction on I-395 South at Exit 18, it is simple and direct.

From I-395 South, take new Exit 18 (old exit 83), then turn right on RT 97  South to reverse direction, quickly re-entering onto I-395 North. Take I-395 North to new Exit 19 (old exit 83A). Proceed 1/2 mile, and turn left onto Kendall Road Extension (also known as Strnad Road), so continue straight as it quickly becomes Strnad Rd, which then turns into Kenyon Road, as you bear to the right after 1/4 mile. Take a left and head down the hill to the entrance to Sunfox Campground.

I-395 South Alternate Route (if nothing in tow and under 12′ in height):

Take new Exit 21B (old exit 84S) to RT 12 South (Mall Exit). RT 12 South for 1/2 mile to Mell Road. Right onto Mell Rd. approximately 1 mile to RT 169 and then right onto RT 169 for approximately 1/2  mile.  Turn left onto Kendall Road Extension (also known as Strnad Road), so continue straight as it quickly becomes Strnad Rd, which then turns into Kenyon Road, as you bear to the right after 1/4 mile. Take a left and head down the hill to the entrance to Sunfox Campground.

From Boston, MA: (90 miles)—RT 90 (Mass Pike) West to Exit 10 (Auburn Exit). Continue to I-395 South to new Exit 18 (old exit 83), then turn right to reverse direction, re-entering onto I-395 North. Take I-395 North to new Exit 19 (old exit 83A). Proceed 1/2 mile, and turn left onto Kendall Road Extension (also known as Strnad Road), so continue straight as it quickly becomes Strnad Rd, which then turns into Kenyon Road, as you bear to the right after 1/4 mile.  Take a left and head down the hill to the entrance to Sunfox Campground.

From Providence, RI: (45 miles)—I-95 South to Rhode Island Exit 14A (old exit 5A). 1 mile South on RT 102. Right onto RT 3 South for 1 mile. Right on RT 165 West (newly paved).  In Voluntown, RT 138 West merges with RT 165.  Stay on RT 138 West, as it bears to the right and separates from RT 165 at the blinking light in Voluntown. Continue on RT 138 for 7 miles to junction with I-395 South.  Cross over RT 164 and continue onto I-395 South to new Exit 18 (old exit 83), then turn right to reverse direction, re-entering onto I-395 North. Take I-395 North to new Exit 19 (old exit 83A). Left onto Route 169 North.  Proceed 1/2 mile, and turn left onto Kendall Road Extension (also known as Strnad Road), so continue straight as it quickly becomes Strnad Rd, which then turns into Kenyon Road, as you bear to the right after 1/4 mile.  Take a left and head down the hill to the entrance to Sunfox Campground.

From Hartford, CT: (45 miles) —I-84 East to exit 55. RT 2 East to Exit 28N. I-395 North to new Exit 19 (old exit 83A).  Left onto Route 169 North. Proceed 1/2 mile, and turn left onto Kendall Road Extension (also known as Strnad Road), so continue straight as it quickly becomes Strnad Rd, which then turns into Kenyon Road, as you bear to the right after 1/4 mile.  Take a left and head down the hill to the entrance to Sunfox Campground.

From Springfield, MA (70 miles) and points north: I-91 South to Exit 30 (left exit) onto I-84 East. Quickly move into right lane for Exit 55 onto Route 2 East. See directions following RT 2 from Hartford above.

From New York City (125 miles) or New Haven (60 miles)—
I-95 North to Exit 76 (LEFT EXIT). I-395 North to new Exit 19 (old exit 83A).  Left onto Route 169 North. Proceed 1/2 mile, and turn left onto Kendall Road Extension (also known as Strnad Road), so continue straight as it quickly becomes Strnad Rd, which then turns into Kenyon Road, as you bear to the right after 1/4 mile.  Take a left and head down the hill to the entrance to Sunfox Campground.

From New London, CT (transportation center/Orient Point Ferry—18 miles)—RT 32 North to I-395 North to new Exit 19 (old exit 83A).  Left onto Route 169 North. Proceed 1/2 mile, and turn left onto Kendall Road Extension (also known as Strnad Road), so continue straight as it quickly becomes Strnad Rd, which then turns into Kenyon Road, as you bear to the right after 1/4 mile.  Take a left and head down the hill to the entrance to Sunfox Campground. 

From Mystic, CT: (20 miles)—From Exit 90 off I-95 (Mystic Seaport Exit), take RT 27 North. Bear right at Mystic General Store. Continue to RT 184. Cross over RT 184 onto Lantern Hill Rd. Continue to right on RT 214, then left onto RT 2 West. Right onto RT 164 North at light after Foxwoods Casino. 7 miles to left onto  I-395 South to new Exit 18 (old exit 83), then turn right to reverse direction, re-entering onto I-395 North. Take I-395 North to new Exit 19 (old exit 83A).  Left onto Route 169 North. Proceed 1/2 mile, and turn left onto Kendall Road Extension (also known as Strnad Road), so continue straight as it quickly becomes Strnad Rd, which then turns into Kenyon Road, as you bear to the right after 1/4 mile.  Take a left and head down the hill to the entrance to Sunfox Campground.

From Foxwoods Casino: (14 miles)—Left out of casino onto RT 2 West. 1 mile to right onto RT 164 North at light. 7 miles to left onto  I-395 South to new Exit 18 (old exit 83), then turn right to reverse direction, re-entering onto I-395 North. Take I-395 North to new Exit 19 (old exit 83A).  Left onto Route 169 North.  Proceed 1/2 mile, and turn left onto Kendall Road Extension (also known as Strnad Road), so continue straight as it quickly becomes Strnad Rd, which then turns into Kenyon Road, as you bear to the right after 1/4 mile. Take a left and head down the hill to the entrance to Sunfox Campground.

From Mohegan Sun Casino: (13 miles)—I-395 North to new Exit 19 (old exit 83A).  Left onto Route 169 North. Proceed 1/2 mile, and turn left onto Kendall Road Extension (also known as Strnad Road), so continue straight as it quickly becomes Strnad Rd, which then turns into Kenyon Road, as you bear to the right after 1/4 mile. Take a left and head down the hill to the entrance to Sunfox Campground.
